Life Must Be Lived: A Reflection on Staying Inspired

March 31, 2023: A dark spring day in Brooklyn Center. The morning is black. A Winter Storm is on the rise, although it is Spring. Strange weather has been a mystery for months.

Outside of my window, the remnants of winter still linger. In the courtyard, scattered piles of hard snow cover areas along the sidewalks.

The balcony floor is slick with wetness. Read folding chairs, two, occupy a small space overlooking the full view of the courtyard.

It’s cold.

When will the true spring arrive. Life is passing by so fast. Once a upon a time I was 20 years old, now I am 60 years old. It appears that I have nothing to show for my time on earth so far: no spectacular job, no owned home, no children whose life I can enjoy.

I remember when I was a little boy looking out of an Arkansas window. My whole life stood before me.  I stood looking at a large puddle in the rain while mother was baking tea cakes, the smell of which kept me in anticipation of something delicious.

In the rain puddle, in my imagination, I could see  a little boat floating on the surface of the turbulent water.

The boat stayed afloat no matter how rough the rain fell. Although it was tossed to and foo it rolled with the waves, with the chaos of violent raindrops.

Life must be lived regardless of the losses or setbacks along the way. Life may not give you what you want, but you can give it what it needs. Love

We must love life despite of our personal plights. Just like the imaginary boat in the turbulent puddle we must stay afloat on matter what life pours upon us.

This morning I see outside my window, not the pass, but a new day, a day of opportunity to do something that I have never done before:

You can love. I can Love.

Although it has been cold, I will not allow life to keep it that way. The true spring is always around the corner. God is on our side and with Him, we are there.

Remember this the next time you look outside of  your window on a raining day. Don’t let misery keep your mind in the pass and don’t’ ever allow it to tell you that you have not accomplished anything on this earth.

Your life is not meaningless. My life is not meaningless.

If we have made someone else smile during our going out and coming in or our sitting down and uprising, then we have fulfilled the royal law of love.

What do you think?
